Wheel Size

Posted on: 10-10-2011 Posted in: Updates

She’s ALIVE! Got busy over the weekend and pulled the DJ1 out of retirement. Charged the battery, checked the plug, sprayed some carb cleaner down the inlet and with a bit of manual ‘choking’, she is a runner once again!

This scooter is a true survivor, having completed the Survivor Scooter 2010, and now with a bit of a prep, she will be entering the 2011 event. I will be taking it into Morley Honda early this week for a more expert once over and service. These guy’s helped out last year, so if you want some expert prep, get in and see them soon.

What’s your wheel size? Being an older Scooter (1988), the DJ1 is running on pretty much the smallest Scooter wheels available. Handling isn’t really compromised but I will have to watch the size of the holes I aim her at. And that incidentally will be the key to getting to the end in one piece. No matter what scooter you will be piloting, the key will be picking the smooth lines and riding to the terrain. I doubt a course on ‘taking your Scooter off-road’ exists, but you should be pretty clued up by the end of day 1!

This photo is the DJ1 parked up next to one of the support vehicles.
