Currently on the hayfield Library computers, had to ring through yesterdays in very shorthand format, but to bring you up to date…
A freezing, foggy Jindabyne morning saw seat covers being de-frosted before seeing bums. Breakfast was the usual hearty fare with a lazy 8.20am departure.
A quick tarseal climb to a single lane dirt road turn off started a long, eventfull day. Fantastic views once again with steep ascents and descents and snow beside the track keeping everyone on their toes.
I got my first flat tire of the day and the whole trip but help was soon on scene. The track descended to a tight valley through which flowed the Snowy River. A few of the Aussies half heartedly dared each other to take a quick dip in the river but it was the Kiwis who had to lead the way, parking up and stripping down for a very refreshing swim in the fast flowing water. Of course I had to go one-up and went ‘skinny’, but I don’t think I will be posting those.
From the valley we climbed into the mountains and ended up reaching deep snow, with patches of rain and hail!!! NOT what I expected of a ride through Aussie!
The going was pretty hard for many and a few of the more experience opted to hang back and help out at the tail end of the field and we were rewarded with some very entertaining ‘events’.
I even had my first ‘crash’ while trying to video with one hand and ride with the other. No harm done and I was soooo happy the others were entertained.
The track then dropped down to the high plains and back to tarseal where I recieved my next flat tyre. This one invloved more of a wait which was fine as the birdlife around here, in fact anywhere in Australia, is just amazing.
A late arrival in to the village and pleased to find we had the option of camping, sleeping in the grandstand, or bedding down on the floor of the club rooms, although some of the early arrivals managed to score rooms in the local Hotel. No Internet access, sorry for the delay.

The days look colder and harder but still fantastic. You are doing a great job, earning the jug, whose contents can change on request to something warming, anything earned and deserved. Well Done
